Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States.
Mercer Island Rotary and its health care community partners want to team up with you to raise funds that can save lives in Washington and the Pacific Northwest, by preventing this terrible disease.
All funds raised by event participants will be used to provide support, awareness, and resources for colon cancer prevention.
The Mercer Island Rotary club is proud to support the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund at the Swedish Cancer Institute. Patients living with colon cancer have no national financial assistance programs available to them. Many colon cancer patients simply don’t have the financial resources to concurrently pay for treatment along with normal living expenses, so in addition to dealing with a serious illness, they are also dealing with the stress of how to make ends meet.
The Cancer Patient Assistance Fund at the Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) was created to bridge this gap, and is supported entirely by caring members of the community like you. Through this fund, the oncology social work team is able to ensure that a patient’s non-medical needs and expenses are supported during treatment – including groceries, utilities, transportation, rent, medicine and child care. In a typical situation, a patient will receive between $100 and $1,000, depending on the limits of the fund.
To ensure that this fund has enough money to meet the challenge posed by colon cancer, Mercer Island Rotary is proud to partner with SCI. We hope you will join us with your donations for this very worthy financial assistance project.
