Belle Piazza was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer in 2007. Belle says she lost count of how many surgeries she’s had. Before Christmas 2010, a recurrence was confirmed in her lungs and lymph nodes. She is Mrs. February 2012 in The Colon Club’s yearly “Colondar” and this March she will travel to Washington D.C. for Fight Colorectal Cancer’s Annual “Call on Congress”.
To Belle, the most important thing that helped her fight her cancer was, “Looking into the faces of my two children and my husband. Giving up is just not an option. As Sarah Palin said ‘Don’t Retreat – Reload’. That’s my motto.” Sometimes taking one day at a time is too much. So take one hour at a time, or one minute at a time. Take the bad days as they come and know that better times are ahead. Don’t waste time worrying on what has been taken away from you. Surround yourself with people who love and care about you and are there to help you with your journey.
